origin: do you know in ancient Greece people used to gather in secret clubs? And when they had to vote for something they would drop beans into a jar . A black bean dropped would mean 'no' and a white bean would mean 'yes'. Then others would sometimes expose somebody and whom they had voted for by overturning the jar and spilling the beans. Ever since this saying has been used to refer to giving away a secret.
